I wear mostly flats, but I love heels. But, they must be comfortable, I don't currently have any shoes that I would rate as being comfortable for some reason or another. I need to go shoe shopping!
I don't wear heels on a daily basis, but I do wear them about 2x week. I wear them so I can be taller than my HS students, my legs look amazing in them, and because they do make outfits look better.

High heels are uncomfortable so I don't wear them often. I own a few pairs and I'm always in pain by the end of the day. So, I don't wear them. I prefer flats, wedges, and cute boots.
I used to love high heels!!! I loved them because they make me feel sexy. Just like putting on a short, tight skirt and lots of make up. (now I sound like a street walker...)
I can't wear flats because they tear my feet apart. My feet are so wide that either the shoe is too long, or too tight. I have gotten the worst blisters in the world wearing flats. High heels have always fit me better. And were much more comfortable.
I wear them now because it's almost like an accomplishment for me. I've had tons of surgeries on my ankles and was told I'd never wear heels again. WELL TAKE THAT OTHRO SURGEON!
And of course the heels I wear are comfortable ones. I have only two pairs and one pair is a little higher. Whenever I wear those I always bring back up shoes.
So what I am hearing is it is mostly "vanity" LMAO
For one Halloween party my wife suggested I dress up as a drag queen, including heels, (I did not like the suggestion but the wife said, "just try it, you might win the costume prize") I did not get out of the bedroom, I turned an ankle and threw my back out and spent the whole weekend lying and sleeping on the floor because it was harder than the bed.
Back in my disco days I had a pair of platform shoes but the were sturdy. I looked cool in my platform shoes and fro, cue the BeeGees
