School Holiday Traditions
Does your school have any holiday traditions?
It is my first year at this school and we have a few. One of them which I am excited about is a cookie exchange. We all bake home-made cookies (enough so every teacher in the school gets 4) and we exchange bags of cookies. I believe I will be collecting 30 bags of cookies this year.
There's another tradition apparently, that I don't know too much about yet as they haven't explained it to me. It seems like a gag tradition of some sort.

We're not allowed to celebrate or discuss holidays...sigh. At my last school we used to do Christmas carols (secular, of course) every morning for the week before break, a holiday show, and christmas parties in the classroom. They also put several trees and lights out in the hallways and taught about other holiday celebrations in class. As a staff we did secret santa, a potluck christmas breakfast, and a party outside of school.

We always have a wear jeans week to raise money for a charity. Basically, staff can wear jeans but pay a $1 or $2 everyday to wear them.

Thanksgiving dinner for lunch, and individual Christmas parties.
Wish we had more school-wide holiday activities.

We take our students to an off-site holiday party right before Winter break. They try to make it a winter holiday party but Santa comes to visit so it's mostly Christmas related.
