Why Facebook is a bad idea...
I'm sure this situation was completely harmless, but the teacher made the poor choice of posting photos on Facebook that happened to be seen by the wrong individuals. Now she's fighting for her job.

Read some of the comments. All the ones I read support the teacher and believe this is much ado about nothing. As for facebook?

And posting the picture shouldn't cost her a career.
And in the question in the article asking why there was duct tape in the room? Really?

Facebook is not the problem. Her poor judgement is the problem. Even though I would not post a picture of any kids in my classroom, I don't think firing her over that picture is necessary.
Again, I am sure we are not getting the full story from the media...

Most are supportive, and rightfully so. While it IS a bit of poor judgment to post a photo of your students online without proper authorization, there's not really any harm from this and it seems like the students were having fun. Such a photo would pretty clearly be in jest. Reprimand her, likely -- should she lose her job over this? Probably not.

It's not even poor judgement though. Poor judgement would make someeone think that this teacher did something that was potentially damaging in some way (e.g. making a derogatory remark about the students, doing it against their will). This was a simple lapse in judgement, and it should barely be a school-wide story, let alone a district, city, or national news story. Ridiculous.
