Skin picking could be a variety of things ranging from anxiety to dry skin.

The dislike of self could be ED, or it could be low self esteem due to LD - but would most likely be noticed by his academic performance. Does Harvey have many/any friends?

Might he benefit from little special treats to boost his self esteem? (Lunch with the teacher, maybe?)

I have a student who is seven and has said things like this as well. I know this student sees our school counselor and school psychologist, and the counselor and classroom teachers spoke with me in depth after one very disturbing incident with this student verbally tearing himself down in after getting in trouble for misbehaving in my classroom (I am a "specials" teacher).

Does your school/district have ANYONE, maybe a contracted school counselor for the district you can call for this situation? Btw, it sounds like you've really handled it well so far:-)

Keep these notes and start documenting any instances.

I would definitely contact the P and share what you are noticing about your student. You may also wish to talk with your school nurse.
