Prayers for students and their family
We have a mixed family in our school. The two oldest kids are their biological children. The 4 younger are adopted. The two olest adopted kids are brother and sister. They were found living in a culvert in New Orleans. This family took them in along with 2 other troubled kids. It's not a perfect family by any means, but I really do think they love them all. There's about 10 years between their biological kids and the oldest adopted child. I've had 3 of the 4 adopted kids in my class. I teach one of the adopted daughters science and social studies this year. (The 4th is still in 1st grade.) Their biological son killed himself yesterday. He was 22 years old and his girlfriend broke up with him. The adopted kids all have emotional issues that they have had to deal with. The boy was in my room last year and we really connected. He doesn't do that often. He idolized his brother and used to tell me that when his brother got a house he would go live with him. My heart breaks for them all, but especially for *Robert*. I worry about how he will be able to deal with this. I worry about them all. This family desperately needs any prayers you can send out to them. Thanks.

Oh, that's heartbreaking, Christy.

So devastating. The family, and your school community, are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the support and prayers, Ladies. It's a small community, so many were affected by this. We've been out of school for Mardi Gras/winter break. We go back tomorrow. We'll see how everyone is doing then.

I am so sorry...I sometimes wonder what the world has thrown at a child that they think death is the only way out.

More details have come out and now they are saying that there is a chance that he was killed. The kids were at school today. The brother that I taught last year greeted me at the door with a huge hug. His sister, who I'm teaching this year spent half the day sleeping. It was a rough day for them.

It's grievous either way. What a good thing the children have you, Christy - but what a burden for your community.
