We have an election next week. Our Government has decided that we can elect our Police Commisioners! However they didn't ask us whether we actually want them so we are expecting about a 10% turnout for the electuons and a large number of us are planning to spoil our ballot.

Neither here nor there
blazer~I would take that over the constant ads we have. I heard on the radio that the candidates spend upwards to $1 billion for political ads for the campaigning season.

I read on yahoo that they were already narrowing down who was going to run in 2016..

To Be Determined
I am soooo glad the election is over for this reason alone! It was to the point that I was DVRing most of my programs so I could fast forward through the commercials or just muting them.

Well turn out for the police election was 15% Natioanlly. In my area we did 12%. Not only was turnout a record low but many that did vote (me included) deliberatly spoiled our ballot papers because we don't agree with the policy of having Police Commisioners and have not been given an opportunity to object. (We don't get the 'none of the above' option in the UK) So as well as a record low turnout there has also been a record set for the number of spoiled ballots! Not that it makes any difference. the Government have hailed he bllot as a success and we shall still get commisioners even though as fa as the population is concerned they have no mandate from us!
