I think I recall seeing this research before. It showed that for high schools, class size didn't matter - the overall student load of each teacher did. So it didn't matter if the teacher taught 4 classes of 25 or 2 classes of 50. It did make a difference if the teacher had 150 total students or 200 total students. And I think that makes sense. At the same time, I don't like it when my lab classes go over 28, because its much more difficult to manage the lab and keep everyone safe, plus it's more difficult to set up and clean up supplies for that many.
