CTEL help
I am taking the CTEL in February, and I was wondering if anyone has any advice/study guide recommendations/etc. for me. Approximately how many hours should I devote to studying for each section? Is three months ample time to study for all the sections in this exam? Any help would be appreciated.

Much will depend on your background. I'm guessing that you hold a teaching license from another state: what in? Have you ever taught students whose first language is not English?

I have a single-subject credential in English from CA and taught about 20 years ago in a high school. I have since been subbing, grading standardized tests, etc., so I have some experience with teaching English learners. I am currently back in an instructional aide position and if I want to get hired as a full-time teacher, I need this authorization. I cannot afford the $2500 to take the courses, so I will sign up to take the exams. OCDE doesn't offer any prep courses, so just need help with study materials or groups. Thank you for any info.

Ah. You're in or near Orange County, then?

Ah. There's not been a huge number of threads on CTEL lately, because the state has already caught up with most of the people who need to take it - but it has certainly been discussed over the years. Have you searched the site?
